Our children’s generation needs to be smarter than ever about sun protection.
Overexposure to UV radiation during childhood and adolescence is a major factor in determining future skin cancer risk and melanoma is the most common cancer in young Australians.
At Lake Heights, we will continue to create environments and educate students in behaviours which reflect a healthy UV exposure balance, ensuring some sun exposure for vitamin D while minimising the risk of skin cancer.
Students are provided with interactive and practical learning about UV radiation and its impact through the Science and Technology key learning area.
Our school homepage also provides an up to date UV index reading along with other weather information for the relevant day at school. School leaders will monitor the sun protection levels and times on our site and make a report to the school via a daily PA announcement.
You can safely stay outside.
